Fun With the Toad
I had decided that this summer the girls were really going to enjoy the outdoors. I have a feeling they will. Mom had come for a visit and we spent most of the day outdoors enjoying nature. Lexy has always been a little nervous of things. She always likes to see things just from afar (she gets that from me). Mom happened to look down and notice a toad snuggled in a hole by the house and wanted to show the girls. It was slow at first both of them wanted to just look. Then "can we touch it" Then "can we hold it". So, I let mom take care of scooping it up and putting it in Lexy's hand. I can not believe my oldest daughter is enjoy holding this toad. Laney didn't want to hold it but she did enjoying touching and being close to it.
So for a day or so we have enjoyed a little nature. Thankfully. Hoop, our pet toad has now found another hole. I would say it is a ways away from our house. LOL
The girls broke him in good. Oh Hoop may stay far away from houses from now on.

1st Time Lapbook

Well, we have tried our first lapbook. Wow! It was so much fun. The girls really enjoyed it.

I had heard and seen the lapbooks on blogs and sites and thought it would be fun to try. The possibilities are just endless.

We went with Fruits of the Spirit for our first lapbook.
I read about the different Fruits of the spirit as the girls colored all that needed to be colored.
We took time together talking about the spirits as we glued them on.

Inside the first opening is a few of the mini books and fruits. Inside the mini books is an example of how we can use the outside fruit.
This is a complete view of our lapbook. On the top flap you will find more mini books and more fruits. On the inside middle is our basket of fruit.

Go to my Resources page to find links to pages for a variety of print outs that you can use.

Trip to the zoo

The girls and I went to the zoo today. It was a nice day for it. There was so much to see. The hippo is the last exhibit which is great because it's my favorite animal at the zoo. We spent a lot of time there looking at it. We got a big kick out of the 2 peacocks chasing each other around. It was very amusing. They are such a beautiful creature.
We had met up with the co-op we are joining in the fall. It was nice to get to meet some of the newbies. We were so proud to have been included in the co-ops last field trip for this school year. Looking forward to jumping in full swing. I think the girls are really going to enjoy it.
